Travelmedz – Indemnity and Terms & Conditions
Definitions:
Travelmedz – a company providing travellers easy and convenient access to healthcare for common minor health ailments while travelling by way of telehealth consultation and a traveling Medical Kit
Kit – The Travelmedz medical kit containing a wide range of medications to cover for common minor ailments a traveller may encounter while travelling.
Telehealth – A healthcare consultation using a digital platform with which to communicate with a patient or client, usually in person using audio and video via a secured internet connection and telehealth platform, also called the App
Location – refers to the geographical location that the User may find themselves in
User – person or persons who have subscribed to Travelmedz
Chronic medication – Medication which a User has been prescribed to take regularly to maintain and or control a disease process for example high blood pressure
Users
This service is currently only available to
- South African Citizens or people resident in South Africa
- People visiting and travelling within South Africa
- People who are 16 years or older
Purpose and scope of Travelmedz
The purpose of Travelmedz and the Kit is to provide travellers easy and convenient access to healthcare for common minor health ailments while travelling, either locally or abroad. Common minor health ailments would include gastroenteritis, respiratory infections like colds and flu, basic wound care, allergies, and pain relief for example.
Travelmedz does not
- Provide a comprehensive healthcare service for ALL emergency situations
- Provide an unlimited supply of medication in the Kit
- Provide medication to cover for every disease and eventuality
- Provide chronic medication. This remains the responsibility of the Traveller
- Provide for, nor advise on, travel medicine related needs such as vaccinations for VISA purposes
- Replace medical travel insurance, and the User is advised to get appropriate medical travel insurance.
Travelmedz Kit (Kit)
- The Kit contains medications to cover for minor common ailments that a traveller may face while travelling.
- The medication contained in the Kit span schedules 0 to 4
- The Kit does not contain opiates or other controlled substances.
- Antibiotics are included and are only to be used after consultation and guidance from a Travelmedz consultant.
- All other medications and medical supplies should also only be used after consultation with a Travelmedz healthcare provider.
- The quantity of stock is sufficient for most travel-related health needs but is not unlimited.
- The Kit is not a substitute for comprehensive medical care, and users may still require evaluation or treatment by a local healthcare provider.
- All medication in the kit is in the original packaging except for prednisone
- The Kit is well marked for easy reference and finding the correct medication, as well as a QR code to link to a description of where the medication is in the Kit
- Included in each Kit is a list of contents by way of a script
- The script has been formulated as far as possible to accommodate most scripting requirements
- All medication supplied will be within their expiry date
- The Kit does not contain Chronic medication and Travelmedz will not provide scripts for chronic medication
- Medtalkz will as far as possible minimise medication in the Kit that may interact with Chronic medication. The User is still advised to double check for possible drug interactions
- The Kit does not as a standard include malaria prophylaxis nor treatment
- Travelmedz has taken steps to ensure that the Kit meets with most countries compliance as regards a traveler’s medication, however, Travelmedz cannot guarantee that the Kit not get confiscated.
- Travelmedz will not assume responsibility for confiscated Kits and will not refund the user I the event that the Kit be confiscated
- Travelmedz will however still provide telehealth support for the duration of the contract
Telehealth and VSee
- Consultations regarding the use of medications in the Kit are provided exclusively via the Travelmedz telehealth App
- Using the App requires connection to the internet
- The User accepts the responsibility of ensuring that the User has adequate connection to the internet when using the App
- Users must download the App in order to access the Travelmedz telehealth Service
- Users must understand the limitations of telehealth, including but not limited to the inability to perform physical examinations.
- Travelmedz doctors may recommend or refer users to in-person medical care if deemed necessary.
- Telehealth consultations will be conducted only by doctors registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Access to telehealth services is available only for the duration of the contract and does not extend beyond that period.
- Travelmedz uses a 3rd party application to provide the telehealth platform. The uptime and working order of the platform is under the control of the 3rd party provider and not Travelmedz. Hence Travelmedz, will endevour to ensure 24/7 access the to the telehealth platform but will not assume responsibility for any downtime.
- Where deemed necessary the Travelmedz doctors may recommend that the user find medical care in their current Location.
- The user should check with their travel insurance regarding any possible breach of contract should the user engage with Travelmedz
User responsibilities
- The Kit is intended for personal use only and must not be shared or sold to others.
- Users must ensure that all information provided at the time of registration and trip booking is accurate and up to date.
- Travelmedz is not responsible for any adverse reactions, side effects, or complications arising from the misuse or incorrect use of the medications.
- The Kit must be stored safely and out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
- Users must provide for their own data and device to access the Travelmedz telehealth platform.
- The User agrees to not take scheduled medication without first consulting with the on-call doctor
- The user must assess for themselves whether their chronic medication is allowed into the country they are travelling to, and that they have the relevant and necessary documentation to allow these chronic medicines into the destination country. Travelmedz does not take responsibility for this.
- The user agrees to discard any expired medicine
- The User must ensure adequate internet connectivity when using the App
- The User must ensure they have the necessary vaccines and prophylaxis for the destination they are traveling to
- The User must ensure there is no conflict between their travel insurance and using Travelmedz
Information
- Travelmedz will collect necessary and relevant personal and medical information, as well as information regarding the travel plans
- Travelmedz will request ID confirmation of the Main User, either in the form of ID card or Passport
- It is important that the User provides the correct and complete information
- The user gives Travelmedz permission to use and share this information in treating the User as well as to improve the Travelmedz offering.
- Travelmedz will ensure that all personal information will only be shared by and with telehealth consultants and Travelmedz staff, including pharmacists, where necessary.
- It may be necessary for Travelmedz to share the user’s information, including medical information, with healthcare providers in a different country/across borders.
- Aligned with POPIA, the User gives Travelmedz consent to share information across borders
- All information will be stored in a local / South African data-secured server in compliance with POPIA storage of information.
- Aligned with POPIA, the User must give Travelmedz consent to share the User’s information where deemed necessary by Travelmedz.
- The Travelmedz App is GDPR compliant
- Travelmedz will not sell nor give away the User’s information
Age
- The minimum age for using Travelmedz is 16
- All underage User’s need to have parental consent. Underage is considered to be anyone younger than 18
- Parental consent MUST ONLY be given where the Parent / guardian believes the underage User is responsible enough to use the Travelmedz service and Kit
Refund policy
- 48 hour cancellation
- No refund if trips are cancelled or postponed
- Trip will be credited
- No refunds if the Kit is confiscated
- No refund for medication not used
- Access to Travelmedz HCPs via pay as you go service will be available in due course
Indemnity & liability
By purchasing and using the Travelmedz Medicine Kit, the user acknowledges and agrees to the following indemnity conditions:
- Travelmedz, its directors, employees, healthcare providers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct or indirect harm, injury, complications, or loss arising from the use of the Kit or the telehealth services.
- Users assume full responsibility for their health decisions, including the proper and responsible use of medications within the Kit.
- Travelmedz makes no guarantees regarding the efficacy or suitability of medications for individual users and the ailments they may sustain, as responses to treatment may vary and the Kit may not contain the necessary medication to adequately treat the ailment.
- Users understand that their ailment may require healthcare services which Travelmedz may not be able to provide.
- Travelmedz reserves the right to refuse consultation or services if misuse, misrepresentation, or abuse of the Kit is suspected.
Regulatory compliance & amendments
- This product and service comply with South African healthcare regulations.
- Travelmedz reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Users will be notified of significant changes.
By using this Kit, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions and indemnify Travelmedz from any liability associated with its use.
